Jerrold Khoo first discovered his love for making drinks in the unlikeliest of places – Starbucks. It was there, 2 years before he would start bartending, that he also realised how much he enjoyed the friendly banter shared between a barista and their customer. One of the most familiar faces at Jigger & Pony, Jerrold first joined in 2013. Prior to that, his journey into the hospitality industry started off at the age of 19 as a floor staff at Loof. At Jigger & Pony, Jerrold hopes to continue to elevate the cocktail bar’s boundary-pushing classic cocktail programme, as well as deliver a world-class hospitality experience in the brand’s signature warm Asian hospitality. He leads the bar and team with a strong focus on craft executed in a convivial atmosphere, helping to propel the bar to debut at #29 on The World’s 50 Best Bars 2019 list, and attain #1 on Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2020. Jerrold’s tenacity coupled with a competitive spirit, has allowed him to hone his bartending skills to emerge fourth in the prestigious Diageo World Class Competition Singapore 2017, and champion in 2018.
Within the Jigger & Pony group, Jerrold accelerated from bartender to Principal in just three years, and Bar Manager two years after, where he currently oversees Jigger & Pony’s bar programme, operations, and brand building. In recognition of his contributions, Jerrold was awarded Bar Manager of the Year in the World Gourmet Awards 2019. Within the tight-knit Jigger & Pony family, Jerrold is known for his earnest commitment to share knowledge, and grooming the team. It is his personal mantra that every customer must leave happier than when they came in, no matter how busy or bad his day is. This passion for hospitality and improving his craft has definitely made Jerrold a respected mover and shaker in the industry.
